The 1 Million Meter Challenge!
The 1,000,000 meter rowing challenge at Bentley’s Fitness
At the weekend, 12 brave members at Bentley’s Fitness attempted to row 1,000,000 meters in under 24 hours with just 4 rowers!
The challenge was established earlier this year to help raise money for two charities; Devizes based Julia’s House Charity and The Royal Marines Charity. Donations were made via the JustGiving website and from raffle tickets sold at the gym in the lead up to the row and we were delighted to hit and exceed our target of £5,000.
The team started their row at 5pm on Saturday 10th February and completed the row in an amazing time of 18 hours, 55 minutes and 18 seconds, finishing just shy of midday on the Sunday. An amazing achievement for Bentley’s Fitness and all those involved.
The rowers were unbreakable! Their energy, their determination and their dedication throughout the rowing challenge was astounding and was helped massively by support from members, friends and family who came along to cheer them and of course, bring them food to keep them going!
And the finisher was quite tasty as well! In true Adam Bentley style, the last 7,500 meters were rowed in 500m sprints by all 12 rowers with quick changeovers, to conclude with a bang!
A massive thank you to all those who participated, donated and came along to show your support! Keep your eyes peeled for Bentley’s next challenge… COMING SOON!!
